BetterWorks’ company mission is to help small and medium-sized businesses recognize, reward and retain employees by “Making Work Rewarding.” Betterworks was founded in 2010 by Paige Craig, Sizhao Yang, and George Ishii in order to help the country’s six million small and medium sized businesses create better work environments. Since then, Betterworks was named one of Business Insiders top 20 startups of 2011, and has seen explosive growth. We’re particularly excited that they’re now coming to our neighborhood (37th and 6th); we’re now in the midst of signing up, of course.
BetterWorks connects local service providers with companies to afford their employees the best pre-negotiated perks such as discounts at gyms, restaurants and dry cleaners. Large companies (Google, Facebook, etc.) dedicate entire teams to establishing employee perks because research shows that companies with perk programs generate higher profits and sales, recruit and retain great employees, and reduce health care costs.
A few things we love about the company:
Flexibility: There is a plethora of perk choices for services that companies and employees want, which allows companies to match corporate goals with employee interests.
Real Time Analytics: With Betterworks, small companies easily control and measure perk rewards and budgets in the system to modify the program.
No Contracts: Betterworks negotiate the contracts for you. This saves small companies both time and money. The perks come as a bundle for around $4 per employee per month.
Bonus Bucks- Betterworks recently added ”Bonus Bucks”, which enables employers to give personalized rewards such as a dinner out with friends, spa services, or a paid dog walker to their employees. This gives small companies additional incentives and rewards that they can offer their employees.
